The Spot Challenge #111 - Sketch Challenge with a Square Card

Hi There.  Hope you are doing well!  It's Tuesday so that means another challenge over at The Spot!  This week's sketch is a fun one to check out!

There is always a battle as to how literal I will take a sketch challenge.  This time I was not very literal!  I wanted to use some of the retiring DSP and to make a square card that is 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" and to add a circle didn't leave a lot of room for the beautiful DSP to show so I did it my way!  lol

I started off with an 4 1/4 x 8 1/2" piece of Smoky Slate Cardstock and scored the 8 1/2" side at 4 1/4" for a square top folding card base. I added a 4 x 4" piece of the gorgeous Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper.  I love this paper but then again.. I love birds!  I used the back side of the same piece of Bird Ballad DSP and adhered it to a scrap strip of Smoky Slate to add my vertical strip as per the sketch.  I stamped my flower from the Floral Essence bundle onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock with Terracotta Tile Ink.   I added the flower center in with Daffodil Delight ink.  The leaves were stamped with Old Olive and cut out the soon to be retired Leaf Punch.  Can I just add that if you have this stamp set.. get that leaf punch.  I hate that it is retiring when this stamp set is carrying over to the next annual catalog.  I would NEVER fussy cut something that I can punch.  Would you?  I did fussy cut this flower image but I was not happy about it.. lol
I embossed a scrap of Whisper White cardstock with the Brick and Mortar 3D Embossing Folder and cut it out with a Circle Die from the Layering Circles Dies.  I added it over the strip with Multipurpose Adhesive and then added the fussy cut flower and punched leaves with mini dimensionals.  The Happy Birthday sentiment was stamped in Terracotta Tile onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and cut out with my paper snips leaving just a little white around the edge.  The strip was adhered with Multipurpose Adhesive as well.  I used the dark Cajun Craze marker to color in three Glitter Enamel Dots and added those to my card front to finish it off.  The Cajun Craze is a very good match for the Terracotta Tile.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Blessings, Tina

#TTTC054 Challenge Card with Stampin' Up! Postive Thoughts Stamp Set, Nature's Thoughts Dies and Label Me Bold Stamp Set

Hi There and Happy Sunday.  Today is the first day of the dreaded "lose an hour" time change.  Once more my body is tired and confused!  While mindlessly scrolling through facebook I did notice a new to me Challenge called Tic Tac Toe Challenges!  Yay for Challenge Blogs!  So here's their Challenge for this week, #TTTC054!

I decided to go diagonally with Insects, Flower, and Gingham/Check by using Stampin' Up! Postive Thoughts Stamp Set along with the Coordinating Nature's Thoughts Dies.  Once again.. I seem to be addicted to the Label Me Bold Stamp Set for my sentiment!

My Thick A2 Whisper White Cardbase has thin layer of Blackberry Bliss and a panel of the new Pleased as Punch DSP.  I added a two inch strip of Black Berry Bliss Cardstockon top of the Pleased as Punch Matted Layer and run a piece of the Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding around it and tied it toward the top on the right side.  My stamped panel was Whisper White Cardstock that was run through the beautiful decorative rectangle die in the Nature's Thoughts Dies.  I stamped the fern onto that panel in Old Olive in both 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generation stamping.  The sprigs and butterflies also from that die set were cut from scraps of Old Olive and Blackberry Bliss Cardstock.  I stamped the flower twice onto a scrap of Whisper White Cardstock in Petal Pink and then used the coordinating die to cut it out.  I adhered them to the stamped panel and topped with a flower center cut from the dies with another Blackberry Bliss Scrap.  I also cut the little decorative edge from the set with more Blackberry Bliss and adhered under the Label Me Bold Sentiment on the lower left side.

Thanks a tone for stopping by!  Blessings, Tina

PCC372 Sketch Challenge with Stampin' Up! Timeless Tropical again!

Hello and Happy Wednesday!  I'm half way through the work week so that's a super big Woo Hoo!

Paper Craft Crew has another fun sketch up for you to try out this week!

Are you tired of my obsession with Stampin' Up! Timeless Tropical yet?  I can't seem to get enough of it!  This time I used the Palm Trees along with the coordinating dies for them as well as the additional leaves and flowers.

The background was cut using one of the Stitched Rectangle Dies with one of the Follow Your Art DSP sheets.  I thought the pattern and the beautiful coastal cabana had the "beachy" feel I was going for.  I matted that layer with a thin layer of Early Espresso Cardstock.  I used the second from the largest of the Stitched Shapes Squares for my Whisper White to back the trees.  I also used a thin matt of Early Espresso on the stitched square.  To stamp the Palm Trees on a scrap piece of Whisper White Cardstock, I used my Stamparatus Stamping Platform along with Stampin' Write Markers in Garden Green, Mossy Meadow, and Soft Suede.  I used the same markers on the sentiment from Label Me Bold Stamp Set.  To split the Happy Birthday into two seperate sentiments, I used the side of my marker just past the word and used a scrap of paper to make sure the edge was fairly straight.   I fussy cut the seperate sentiments out ... luckily it is just straight lines so really easy! So did you happen to nice that little bit of grass at the bottom of my diamond??  Well I couldn't let my palm trees just hang out there without ground or grass so I used the new Special Days Dies to cut a little sliver of grass in Garden Green Cardstock.  Once I had the grass cut I used the same stitched square to stitch the sides so it would fit right into the corner.

Here's the inside of my card...

I kept the inside super simple by adding the rest and relax sentiment from Timeless Tropical along with three of the flowers from the coordinating dies.
