DIY Shiplap Background Card

Hello Friends.  Happy Thursday or as some call it.. Friday Jr!  I have a card to share with you and a video on how I made the background.

I'll start with the video first!

Such a simple way to add a fun look and texture to the background of any card.  In the video I show you two cards that I had already made.  The next picture is the completed card I made with the background that I created in the video.

Here's the finished card...

I used the Daisy Lane Bundle for this card.  I love stamp sets that has coordinating punches and this Medium Daisy punch is awesome.  Each flower on my card is made from two seperate daisies that have been stamped and layered offset to appear fullyer.    I stamped the fern and sentiment directly on the Shiplap background.  I was hesitant to stamp on the fern but it worked out perfectly.  I was afraid the gaps would mess up the image but I don't think it did at all.  I stamped the flowers in Pineapple Punch Ink.  It's such a beautiful bright yellow and will be soon retiring unfortunately.  Since the sentiment said it's your time to shine, I added some Clear Wink of Stella to the flower center after I colored the center in with the Mango Melody Stampin' Blends.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Blessings, Tina

The Spot Challenge #108 - Mother's Day

Hi There!  I hope you are having a wonderful Tuesday so far!  Are you still hunkered down at home to reduce the spread of the Covid-19 Virus!  I think Tennessee is about to get back to work in one more week or at least most of the state anyway.  Some places are still seeing a lot of new cases daily and may take a bit longer to get back in gear.

This week's Challenge at The Spot is a Mother's Day Card Challenge.  I needed to make two Mother's Day cards so this one was just in time for me.

I went with a layered look with the new Ornate Layers Dies but went a little more casual in color and pattern for my sweet Mom.  She's a country girl at heart so the Gingham DSP was a good fit.

I used the It's your time to shine from the Daisy Lane stamp set.  I added the "Mom," with the Make a Difference Stamp set.  I love that you can put those beautiful letters together to make any name or word.  It's such a great set to have on hand.  The flowers were stamped in Balmy Blue that had been stamped off for a lighter look and then punched out with the Medium Daisy Punch.  I used the light Balmy Blue Blends Marker to color in the center.  I finished it off with three sequins.

All of the Details are below.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Blessings, Tina

Card Base - 8 1/2" X 5 1/2" Thick Whisper White, socred at 4 1/4"
Ornate Layers Die Cut Layers - Pretty Peacock, 2019 - 2021 In Colors DSP (Pretty Peacock) and Whisper White
Stamp Sets:  Daisy Lane, Make A Difference
Punches:  Medium Daisy Punch, Leaf Punch
Ink:  Pretty Peacock, Balmy Blue
Blends Marker:  Light Balmy Blue

#scrappystriptechnique card with Stampin' Up! Ornate Thanks Stamp Set

Hello!  I hope you've had a wonderful day!  I just saw that the Amazing Kylie Bertucci posted a #scrappystriptechnique card challenge on her Facebook page.  This technique is the brainchild of Bruno Bertucci, Kylie's husband.  If you haven't watched Bruno's video on how to do this technique, click here!  This is a super fun way to use up extra cardstock or DSP scraps you have on hand!

On this first card I used Bruno's technique.  The hard part on this is leaving an equal amount of black background on all of the strips.  The colors I used were Melon Mambo, Basic Black, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Pretty Peacock and Whisper White.  My scrappy strip panel is 3 3/4" x 5" and was mounted on a 4" x 5 1/4" Basic Black matt and then added to a Melon Mambo Cardbase. The sentiments from the Ornate Thanks Stamp Set was stamped in Melon Mambo and Perfect Peacock onto Whisper White and then cut with one of the small Stitched Rectangle Dies.  I added a little Snail and then looped some Whisper White Twine on the lower right side of the card and then popped the sentiment over it with Stampin' Dimensionals.  To finish this one off,  I colored 3 Gold Glitter Enamel Dots with my Dark Basic Black Stampin' Blend Marker and added those to the Card Front.  I love the way this one turned out so I decided to make a second one...

For the second card, I put the cardstock pieces against each other and didn't leave the open area in between.  What do you think??

Instead of leaving the open areas with the black background, I added strips of black.  I used the same colors on this one as the first one.  I added two stitched circles cut from the Stiched Shapes Dies.  The thank you sentiment is from the Timeless Tropical Bundle and the flowers and leaves were cut from the dies in that bundle as well.  I also fun the panel with the Stitched Rectangles dies as well as a stitched rectangle matt and put it on a Basic Black Cardbase.  Which do you like better?  I really love them both!
