The Spot Challenge #104 - Spring Fling Theme with Stampin' Up! Honey Bee Bundle

Hello Friends!  I hope this finds you all safe and hunkered down at home!  This week's Challenge at The Spot Creative Challenge Blog is a Spring Fling Theme.  It is just beginning to feel like Spring around here and I've noticed a lot of flowers beginning to bloom and lots of bees out.  I was with my 6 year old Grandson, Aiden, just a few days ago and when we went outside, there were bees everywhere!   He is super afraid of them so it turned out to be a mostly inside day!  I must say that the Sunshine felt so good the little bit that I was outside!

Lately, I've really found fun folds to be my jam so I decided to make this one a Gate Fold Card.

I started with a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" half sheet of Daffodil Delight Cardstock.  On the 8 1/2" side, I scored at 2 1/8" from each end and used my bone folder to make sure I had a good crease that met exactly in the middle!  I cut two  1 7/8 x 5 1/4" strips of the Golden Honey DSP and used my Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends to loosely color in the flowers.  Once colored I adhered on each side of the front panels with Multipurpose Adhesive.  I stamped my Bee Hive in Daffodil Delight onto a Scrap of Whisper White Cardstock and cut out with the coordinating die.  I also cut a 2nd one out in Daffodil Delight Cardstock and used multipurpose adhesive to adhere the stamped one directly over the die cut one.  This helped add some strength to the die cut!  I then adhered it to my left card front side with Dimensionals leaving the right side adhesive free.  The sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp set was heat embossed in black onto a scrap of Daffodil Delight cardstock.  It was then cut using the 2nd smallest of the Stitched So Sweetly Scalloped Stitched Rectangle.    Again, I also cut out another Daffodil Delight Scalloped Rectangle and adhered them together with multipurpose adhesive to add strength to this die cut.  This time I added the Stampin' Dimensionals on the right side, leaving the left side adhesive free.  The three small honey bees were stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto scraps of Whisper White cardstock.  I used Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends to color in the stripes on the bees body.  The coordinating dies were used to cut out the bees.  I then added a little Wink of Stella to the wings to give them some shimmer.  They were adhered with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.  The large bee was cut out of Basic Black cardstock, twice,  and then adhered one over the other with multipurpose adhesive.  I cut a small scrap of Daffodil Delight to add under the body of the Bee and then used Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere to the card front on the left side.  I used Basic Black Cardstock to cut out the Honeycomb and added it on the right side.  Some of the pieces were added back in with more Multipurpose Adhesive.  Finally I added some more of the Wink of Stella to the pieces that were glued back into the Honeycomb.  It really gave it some beautiful shine!!

Finally, to finish off the inside, I added a 4 x 5 1/4" panel of the Golden Honey DSP in another of the designs...

I used the largest Scalloped Rectangles from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies to cut out a Whisper White Panel to write on.  I stamped one of the flowers from the set onto the bottom right side with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored in with the Daffodil Delight Blends.  I added a few of the black cutouts from the Honeycomb over the flower and added some more Wink of Stella over them.

Such a fun card... I just love Gatefold Cards!

The Spot Challenge #103 Color Challenge with the Ornate Garden Suite of Products

Hi There!  Hope you are doing well and are hunkered down at home!  This Corona Virus mess is just too crazy for words.  I began working from home this week and will probably do so for at least 4 weeks.  Since I work as an Import Manager for a Retail Chain, I can tell you that unless you are a gas station, grocery store, or pharmacy, if you are in retail, things are super tough right now.  We had to furlough many of our employees and take it down to the bare bones just to give us a chance to survive this thing.  It's so, so sad....

At least crafters have their crafts to keep them sane!  So to help jumpstart your creativity, we've got another Spot Challenge for you to check out.

For my design team card, I used Rococo Rose, Blushing Bride and Basic Gray with a little help from the new Ornate Garden Suite of Products.  The suite has two stamp and die bundles, an embossing folder, a ribbon duo and some beautiful gold embellishments. This suite is available to demonstrators to pre-order now and will be available to customers on April 1st!

Here's my card...

I started with an 11 x 4 1/4" piece of Basic Gray Cardstock that was scored at 5 1/2".  I typically use this as a top folding card but today I'm using it as a side folding card.  I added a 4 x 5 1/4" panel of Rococo Rose Cardstock that was embossed with the beautiful Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder.  With a scrap of Blushing Bride I cut a beautiful layer with the ornate Layers Dies.  I backed it with Basic Gray Cardstock to show off that gorgeous detail in the die cut.  I cut a front layer of Basic Gray and heat embossed the sentiment from the Timeless Tropical Stamp Set.  I stamped the single flower from the Ornate Style Stamp Set in basic gray onto Whisper White cardstock.  I used Stampin' Blends to color the image in and then fussy cut it.  the stem was cut from the blossom (by accident.. lol) so I adhered the stem with Multipurpose glue and popped up the blossom with Mini Dimensionals.

Here's the inside of my card, which I kept super simple by just stamping the small single flower...

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Stay safe and craft!  Blessings, Tina

The Spot Challenge #102 - Good Luck

Hi There!  I hope your week is off to a fantastic start!  Let me tell you that this week's Challenge #102 at The Spot gave me quite the challenge.  I honestly didn't think I owned one current Stamp Set that had "luck" anywhere in it.  Well luckily, I was wrong.. that goodness!

I literally flipped through the entire 2019 - 2020 Annual Stampin' Up! Catalog, page by page until I finally found it.. Love what you do!  I was sooo happy!  I paired it with the super fun Special Someone stamp set for this little cutie....

The ink blended background was sponged with Petal Pink, Flirty Flamingo and Gorgeous Grape Ink onto Whisper White Cardstock. Once I had it blended, I spritzed it with just a little bit of water and dabbed a paper towel over it.  I dried it with my heat tool and then used the Stitched Rectangle Dies to cut out a panel.  I cut a larger panel of Basic Black to matt the ink blended top layer.  I already had the idea of using 4 of the little heart shaped ballon images to look like a four leaf clover so why not use the other images in a Special Someone as well.  The balloons were stamped on Whisper White Cardstock with, of course, Call Me Clover since this was a Good Luck challenge.  I stamped my racoon in Smoky Slate with Memento Tuxedo Black ink for the top layer, the Squirrel was stamped in Crumb Cake and Smoky Slate and the Mouse was stamped in Sahara Sand and Gray Granite.  The sentiment and two little butterflies were stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black.  The ink blended background was sponged with Petal Pink, Flirty Flamingo and Gorgeous Grape Ink onto Whisper White Cardstock.  The grass was cut in a scrap of Call me Clover Cardstock and the flowers were cut with a scrap of Purple Posy Cardstock.  I used a light Blackberry Bliss Blend to dot in the center of the flowers.  Once I had my scene all built and matted on black, I added it to a card base of Call Me Clover Cardstock.  I was honestly really happy with how this one turned out.  I hope you like it as well!   If you are interested in any of the products used, they will all be listed below.
